Areas of Research

The Fondazione Don Gnocchi has become a leader over the years in the field of scientific research in rehabilitation and disability care, taking care of the patient in all aspects and not merely their illness.

Today, the Foundation develops and conducts a very broad, cross-disciplinary, and multidisciplinary research activity, focusing on precision medicine and personalized rehabilitation with a translational approach "from bench to the bedside" - from the laboratory to the patient's bedside.

The Foundation promotes and implements research projects in collaboration with national and international public and private entities with the goal of achieving innovative solutions applicable in the clinical field.

The research activities focus on four thematic areas that allow the development of significant projects and initiatives with high translational value, aimed at achieving results and benefits that can "reach" the patient in an increasingly shorter time frame.

BIOENGINEERING AND BIOTECHNOLOGY

This Research Area is focused on the investigation, development, advancement and clinical validation of innovative models, methods and tools within the domains of bioengineering and biotechnology, with a distinct on rehabilitation medicine.

The aim of the research area is to explore novel prognosis markers, develop new treatments, and evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation pathways inneurological, neurodevelopmental, and musculoskeletal disorders.

REHABILITATION OF CARDIO-RESPIRATORY DISABILITIES

Rehabilitation for patients suffering from cardio respiratory pathologies, both in post acute and chronic conditions. The research area aims to improve rehabilitation care in patients with cardio respiratory disabilities with the goal of achieving a comprehensive functional, psychological and social recovery, or alternatively slowing the progression of the underlying disease.
